General Production Lead Times

Our standard lead time is generally 7–10 working days based on a 5-day work week.

During slower periods, turnaround may be shorter, especially when we are able to utilize open space during current engraving runs. Lead times may also be affected by higher order volume, holiday demand, inclement weather, snowstorms, power outages, or other circumstances beyond our control.

For that reason, lead times should be considered normal estimates rather than guaranteed completion dates.

Grip Order Lookup

You can now check the status of your grip order as it moves through production. This includes your scheduled start date, when your order enters production, and current status updates as each step is completed.

Our production process generally follows these steps:

  • Engraving — Step 1
This may include more than one engraving stage depending on your order, such as bottom engraving and/or backstrap engraving. The grips are cleaned and returned to continue engraving the other steps, this attributes to the extra time necessary for these custom additions. HRV Grips® are Deep Relief engravings, requiring multiple levels and individual pieces being engraved in our more detailed offerings.

  • Cleaning — Step 2

Cleaning is required after each engraving, grips with backstrap and bottom engraving will be cleaned three times at this station.

  • Medallions — Step 3
This step applies only when medallions are required for your order.

  • Finishing — Step 4

This is a multi step process which takes several hours to complete, overnight and next day completion is common here.

  • Shipping / Drying — Step 5
This stage includes the drying time required before final shipment. This is also where “Quality Control” lives, all orders are signed off on by shipping prior to completion, if any grip set fails it is bagged for later determination of worth and a new set is immediately put into production.

  • Shipped — Step 6

This is where your set is carefully wrapped and protected for shipping, our shipping department takes pride in how your new custom grips are displayed.

Depending on your order, the production portion of the process generally takes 2–5 days once your grips enter active production.

● eBay Customers - You can utilize this lookup tool for your order production as well. To use this tool you must message us for your order number, unfortunately eBay does not provide you with our internal 4 digit order number. Keep in mind your order will always begin with “E”, such as E1234

You will need your order number and the last name used during purchase

Color, Finish & Natural Break-In

Every set of HRV Grips® goes through our finishing process before it leaves our shop. As part of that process, we use Clenzoil Field & Range oil to help condition and protect the wood. This is not a quick surface wipe. Our process involves several steps designed to help the oil penetrate into the wood, supporting the long-term durability, feel, and appearance of the grip.

Because the oil is absorbed into the wood, your grips may arrive slightly darker than expected. Engraved or patterned areas may also appear darker than the smooth sections, especially on deeper colors such as Dark Walnut and Deep Crimson. This is normal and temporary.

This slight darkening is part of what helps protect the grips and is important to the longevity of the finish. Over time, the color will naturally lighten back toward its original shade. Natural light, especially sunlight, will help speed up this process. Depending on use, handling, and outdoor exposure, most grips will begin returning to their intended color range within approximately 30 to 90 days.

Please keep this in mind when choosing your color and when receiving your new HRV Grips®. The color you see right out of the package may not be the final settled shade.

For regular care, a quick wipe down is usually all that is needed to keep your grips looking new. We recommend original formula Clenzoil Field & Range oil as a light dress-up treatment when needed. Soaking the grips is not necessary. Simply apply a small amount, then buff with a smooth, clean, lint-free towel. Our Grey Microsuede Cloth is Saturated with Clenzoil F&R and our Orange 2-sided Cleaning & Buffing cloth is what we use in our shop, combining a Microsuede (Orange) side with a Microfiber Grey backing. These products are priced well below comparable items and work fabulous on your entire firearm. Our finishing process is designed with the same purpose as our patterns and materials: to create grips that look right, feel right, and are built to be used.
