Choose from Zebrawood (Goncalo Alves), Pau Ferro, Cocobolo, Rosewood (Shown), or Kingwood. These grips are Hogue’s Monogrip single piece set, they come with the replacement mounting system which incorporates the alignment pin into the fastening screw system, you do not need to purchase an alignment pin if replacing rubber grips. If you have something else in mind go to our Home Page and create your own unique grips!

Fitment: The Colt Diamondback and Detective Special are both D-Frames and can use the same grip. Fits 1966 - 1981 Colt Diamondback

Detective special guns are generally small concealable handguns so we make small grips for them. The Diamondback is generally a larger target type handgun so in wood we make the grips for them larger and more hand filling.

All Detective Special and Diamond Back revolvers are considered "D" frames. An SF-VI frame is a thicker frame in the side plate area. If it is an SF-VI revolver, it will be marked accordingly. Also, Hogue grips are made only for the newer shorter frame and not a pre 1966 long D frame. Verify by measuring distance from rear side plate screw to the grip stock-pin. Older/longer frame is approx. 3 1/4", Newer/short frame is approx. 2 5/8".

Wood grips have an open backstrap.

Will not work on long "D" or first model "D" frame's from the ' 50's

Hogue grips for the Diamondback are the one-piece Monogrip design. They are ambidextrous allowing both right and left handed use. Installation is simple requiring the grip pin be removed and the stirrup to be snapped in place. The grip then slides up from the butt, with one screw securing the grip through the butt. All necessary hardware is provided. The stirrup pin goes through the center of the frame, not the pin hole.
